Science Project WIN

I was so stinking proud of my kiddos today! They worked their little tail feathers off at making some AMAZING BIRD BEAKS! (tail feathers… bird beaks… get it? ?) We have been learning about adaptation in science for the past week and a half. Today I challenged my students to make a bird beak based off what their favorite food is. Every bird has a certain type of beak, based on what it eats, it’s environment, habitat, etc… The kids chose their favorite food and made a beak to match. For example, I chose bread and french fries… so I wouldn’t need a beak that was scooped like a pelican  or small and thin like a kiwi bird. I would want my beak to mimic a duck like beak!

Here are the students working today and making some awesome progress! Like I said, I couldn’t be more proud of them and all they are doing!

Extra Math Practice

I know this week is going to be good! I think I just had the best Monday I have ever had with both my classes!!!

As we move forward in introducing new skills, I have attached the URL for a website that has a wide variety of math practice games!!!

http://www.math-play.com/3rd-grade-math-games.html

Please make sure your child is practicing their math facts at least 3x’s a week! This should be about 20-30 minutes of practice. Fluency in math facts is crucial to their success! They are already doing so well and increasing their score each week. Remember if you ever want your child to have more practice at home, I am more than willing to put together some things to use at  home including worksheets, interactive games, apps, etc… I have plenty of resources at my disposal to share with you! Also here on the blog is a page called “Math Practice”. It has tons of links to practice at home! 🙂 Parent involvement makes a difference!!! Hope everyone has a great week!
